Bring Your Daughter to Work Day

Cami enjoyed visiting daddy at work today. We picked him up and treated him to a yummy lunch at Fudruckers. Afterwards, we went back to the golf course and fed the ducks and played on the golf greens. Although our playing on the greens was only a short while since Neal informed me that the golf course is "not a park!" Apparently he has to run off trespassers who play on the course and didn't want to be a hypocrite. But,it was a beautiful day and just perfect for riding around on the golf cart with the wind blowing through our hair! The golf course looked great...good work, Neal!
Such a funny look!

Easter Weekend

Cami had a great Easter weekend! We started off the weekend by going shopping at Toys R Us and getting her this really cool ride-in car for only $15 - it was on sale plus we used a gift card we received for buying an obscene amount of diapers! She absolutely loves riding in her new hot rod, she even puts her hands up on the steering wheel.
It is such a cute and fun car. I highly recommend it to everyone that has a youngster!
Sorry, Neal. I just had to add this picture of you! He doesn't look too thrilled to be wearing Cami's bow on his hat, but I though it was adorable! Look at his big blue eyes, this is where Cam gets them from!
If you look closely you can see the purple bruise on her face from when she fell backwards and her grocery cart fell on her face. This weekend has been full on bumps, bruises, and scrapes for her. But this one left the worst mark. Poor baby!
Refusing to take the egg out of her mouth so I can take a decent picture of her.
On Saturday night Grammy and Papaw came over to cook out. She enjoyed showing off her new toys - the swing and the car! She also gave them a short 10 second rule to hold her, then she squirmed and wiggled to get out of their arms. She had important business, and crawling, to tend to!
Easter morning! Crawling over to her very first Easter basket...so exciting :)
Sorry mom, not gonna smile!
She went through all of her goodies very quickly and then came to the Easter grass and stopped. She thought she had found the jack pot! Don't worry, though, we took it away right after I took this picture of her. It's a huge chocking hazard. That crazy looking thing in her lap is a cow fish for the bath tub that I found on sale at Wal-Mart - it even moos under water :)

Easter Pic's

Cameron had Easter pictures taken with her cousin, Troy a few weeks ago. It was very hard trying to get them to smile -they are both super serious babies! So these are the best ones of the bunch. Notice not a single smile in any of them :( They are still sweet, though!
The photographer talked me into this silly bunny ear picture. I think Kelley, my sister-in-law, was persuaded into buying the bunny ear of Troy, too. We are such suckers!

To the Park

We took a trip today to our favorite local park. Cameron got an up close view of geese and ducks as they came up out of the water so we could feed them pieces of bread. I fed the ducks while Cami watched. She didn't seem bothered or startled by the big geese getting within inches and HISSING at us as they begged for more bread. Even I was a little intimidated by their demanding nature. But little Cami is proving to be a very easy going baby as she takes everything in stride and doesn't get rattled easily.
After we fed the ducks Neal thought it would be funny to take Molly off the leash (a big park no-no) and let her go after the ducks and geese. The poor ducks did not like it one bit. They were all happy and relaxed enjoying their yummy bread and then here comes a wild and crazy dog tearing after them. Poor ducks!

Here, There and Everywhere!

Cami is VERY active these days! She is into everything, and there's no holding her back. It wasn't long after she learned how to crawl that she began working on pulling-up to a standing position while holding onto things. Now that she is confident in her ability to pull-up and then get back down on her own, she is climbing up on every piece of furniture or equipment we have. This behavior is absolutely wearing me out! It is not safe with a crazy, climbing 8 month old on HARD WOOD FLOORS! The change to carpet in our living room needs to hapen very soon!
Here are some pic's I took of her exploring over the past couple of weeks.

This is Cami's new shy look.

Cami's favorite place to hang out. To keep her from pulling-up at the oven or dishwasher I distract her with the tupperware cabinet :) This little red stool is awasome! It's very sturdy and the perfect size and height for little munchkins to climb on. The Cam loves it! And last but not least, she has found the doggie door. I knew it was only a matter of time before she dicovered this child-friendly door. Let's hope she doesn't try to actually go through it anytime soon!

The Swing

Neal came home with a special surprise for Cami the other day - a swing! I have been talking about getting one for our yard for a while now and he decided to be the hero and surprise us all. Yay daddy!!!!
Cami loves her new swing! We try to use it every day if the weather is nice.
We don't have the best tree's in our yard for hanging a swing so she swings a little lop-sided, but she doesn't seem to mind. She just loves the wind blowing through her hair - what little of it she has, at least. :)

Books

Cami is starting to enjoy looking at books. She mostly likes the touch-and-feel kind of books but she has learned how to use her pointer finger to point at things in the book. So she will point and feel as you read to her. It is so cute to see her little finger pointing at something. Oh the joys of parenthood. I never thought I would have enjoyed a tiny little finger pointing as much as I do :)
She knows where all the textured parts are in the book and reaches right for them on each page - she's such a smarty pants!
Unfortunately, I wasn't quick enough to get a shot of her using her little pointer finger in any of these shots.

8 Months

Cameron is 8 months old today! Here is what she has been up to:

  • She is crawling! It took her a little while to get the hang of it, but now she is all over the place! She has become very, very quick at getting around!
  • She has also learned to pull up on things. This new trick is about to give me a heart attack for the simple fact that she does not realize that she needs to hold on to whatever she pulled up on to actually stay up. She lets go as soon as she sees something neat to grab and BANG she's on the floor.
  • We have moved her crib down 2 notches because of all her sitting, crawling, and pulling up in bed. Her bed is so low now. I almost have to just drop her to get her all the way down there!
  • She got her first tooth in! It's on the bottom right. It is still in the beginning stages of popping out so there's just a little tid-bit of white showing.
  • She is doing a little self-feeding with cheerios, gerber puffs, and yogurt melts. She hasn't mastered the thumb-finger grasp but she somehow gets them in there using her fist.
  • She gets excited when Neal comes home from work every day. She greets him with a loud squeal and huge smile. She loves her daddy very much!
  • She seems to know what is a toy and what is not. And she naturally wants what is not a toy. Her favorites are the remote, phone, dog toys, sun glasses, keys, and camera. But she's not picky anything you are holding will do!

Dallas Blooms

Cameron took her second trip to the Dallas Arboretum yesterday. Every year to kick off the spring season the Arboretum has Dallas Blooms which always features the most beautiful spring bulbs. The tulips are absolutely gorgeous! The whole place is just exploding with color-it's so pretty! Little Cami was a good sport about our family outing, considering she skipped her morning nap and only got a quick snooze in the car on the way over.
We took about a bazillion pictures but more than half of them are of the top of her head...she was constantly trying to crawl away!
We brought a picnic lunch and just hung out and relaxed on our blanket.
Grammy & Papaw met us there to make it even more of a fun day.
Trying to get Cami to look at Neal as he was taking pictures I clapped my hands and she copied me - her first time to clap her hands caught on camera!!!
All that picture taking wore her out!

Playing with Maddie

Cami is crawling -yay! She started crawling over the weekend and has gotten better and better at it throughout the week. I have been trying like a mad woman to video tape her in action all week but she never cooperates while I have the camera up. In this clip you can kinda see her crawling skills but she is mostly playing with Maddie and trying to take away her toy. Maddie and her toys have actaully been the motivation for Cami to crawl. Any time Cami sees Maddie playing with a dog toy she stops what she is doing and goes after it! It's really cute to see them play together. Maddie shows an interest in Cami and I think these two are going to be great buddies!

Talking

OK, so I know this video clip is very dark and you can barely see Cami, but it's alright because you don't really need to see her - just listen to her :) She is "talking" to her cookie jar that is singing to her. She loves anything that sings or talks along with lights up. The cookie jar's nose lights up as it sings songs when you put the shape cookies inside. It is basically like a glorified shape sorter, and she just recently started talking to it. This high pitch squealing is pretty much how she talks all the time. It is her happy voice!

By the way, at the end of the clip she got real quiet because she was doing a little business...if you know what I mean .

Baby Steps

Cami has learned how to take steps while we hold her hands. Now that she has had a taste of what it's like to be mobile she can't get enough. She loves walking all over the place. She still hasn't mastered crawling but she has made a few "steps" finally. It won't be long until she is on the move. I guess we need to start baby proofing - yikes!
